OpenAI announced the update from its official account on October 17 (Taipei time) (@OpenAI). Finished tasks can be opened up, and while the agents are still working on their separate pieces, the conversation shows how far along they are (ChatGPT release notes).
Picking the Pro thinking level in the model menu means using GPT-6 Pro, which runs on GPT-6 Astra. If you're on Business or Enterprise, or on either Pro tier ($100 or $200), you can use it; Enterprise users also need their workspace to have the model turned on (OpenAI Help Center).
Correction (2026-10-22)
The original version stated only that it was available now; the announcement date is now given, and the description of agent progress now cites the ChatGPT release notes.
