發生什麼事
@SimonsFdn announced on October 15 at 22:33 (Taipei time) that $15 million is going in from the three parties together, as funding plus resources. Per the press release, the money is meant to help researchers pick up new tools, check results recently reached with AI, and agree on shared rules for its use. In practice, the foundation backs workshops and related programs, and some of the money is handed out through an open call (Simons Foundation press release).
Basic science is covered too: a portion of foundation-supported researchers will get tools and compute from the two AI companies, and the foundation will contact those selected directly. At 22:35 the same day, OpenAI announced it is putting in $5 million, which also funds work examining OpenAI's recent results (@OpenAI). The press release doesn't state how much Anthropic is contributing.
Correction (2026-10-22)
The original version stated the press release had no application timeline; the release was updated on October 21 to add the December 1 deadline, so the text was rewritten and the call page linked.
